The first step toward identifying, addressing and preventing sexual exploitation is helping people understand it. There are lots of myths and misconceptions that cloud our perception of this kind of abuse, so it’s really important that clear messages are available that cut through some of the confusion.

FACES is continuing to develop an awareness-raising session called ‘Breaking the Silence’, designed to help leaders and members of faith communities understand what CSE is, and their role in challenging it.

We have successfully held a number of sessions already and have our next training on 17th May 2018 (find out more here). These events are initially for faith leaders and those who work with children and young people, with the hope that it can be delivered more widely across Luton’s faith communities in the future.  By increasing our understanding, we can increase the number of people who are aware of the warning signs of abuse, and what they can do – and protect more children from harm.
