It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our dear friend and FACES colleague, Dr. Lucie Moore.
Lucie was a guiding light in our communities, a beacon of hope and kindness in a world often filled with challenges. She lived a life defined by compassion, justice, and an unwavering commitment to truth. As her mother so beautifully expressed, Lucie radiated love, humility, and a tireless determination to make the world a better place.
Tony Thompson, co-chair of FACES, shared:
“Lucie was not just a colleague but a cherished friend. FACES was built on her profound knowledge and expertise in addressing child sexual exploitation; many of our courses were initiated by her. But Lucie’s greatest contribution was herself—deeply humble, approachable, and honest. This shone through in our work together and during our regular coffee chats. I deeply miss her friendship but rejoice in the blessing of having known her.”
We remember Lucie as a tireless advocate for our town and faith communities—someone who gave selflessly and uplifted those around her. Her honesty, enthusiasm, and radiant smile have left an indelible mark on all of us.
Rehana Faisal, co-chair of FACES, reflects:
“Lucie was kind, empathetic, and one of the most thoughtful people I have ever known. She was an incredible listener and stood by me when I needed her most. It feels strange to speak of her in the past tense when her presence still feels so strong. I will miss her terribly and hold her memory close. My heart goes out to her family, especially her daughter Ruby. May Lucie’s love and light continue to shine through her. Aameen.”

Lucie cared deeply about children, young people, and the collective responsibility we all share to protect and nurture them. In her own words:
“…this is a world where it’s our job—yours and mine—to make their world safer. It is not children’s responsibility to keep themselves safe—it is ours, as a community.”
Her passion for protecting young people and empowering communities to create safer spaces remains a powerful legacy that will continue to inspire and guide us.
